Add address points by road

You can select a road centreline to place address points associated with it and automatically assign the road name to each address point. The road name parts are automatically detected from the selected road and then are used to populate the appropriate fields in the new address points.

After saving the address points, the Update centreline addresses ranges tool is displayed.

Address points can be placed on the left, right or both sides of the road centreline. You can change the starting address number and increment value at any time during address placement. Once the address points have been placed, there is an option to display the Update centreline address ranges tool to update the address ranges for the selected road.

Use the following workflow to add address points by road:

  1. Click Address editor.
  2. Click Add Address Points by Road tool.
  3. Select the road centreline.

Notes:

Prior to placing each point, you can set the Snap option. For example, in the image below, the Snap option is set to Parcel Centroid. This can be changed to Building Centroid.

Prior to placing each point, you can reset the current address number and increment. Negative increments are allowed. This is useful when you have completed addressing one side of the road and then want to switch to addressing the other side of the road. The increment value is applied to subsequent address numbers.

After pressing the escape key or clicking the Select feature icon to end placement mode, you can return to placement mode and continue where you left off by clicking the Draw point icon on the sketch widget.
